1939 League of Nations

The roots of the 1939 crisis trace all the way back to the aftermath of World War I. After the First World War, the Allied powers (the countries that “won”) imposed the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. This treaty placed heavy blame, extreme loss of land, severe economic instability, and military restriction on Germany. Additionally, this treaty forced Germany to pay a large sum of money, leading to massive debt. The total impact of the Treaty of Versailles led Germany to impoverishment.
